    2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG

Posted by ai 6:52 PM, under ,, | No comments

Last week, Mercedes-Benz accidentally dropped the ball on the refreshed C63 AMG, and even though the automaker quickly removed all photos and information, the damage was done and we got our first look at the Stuttgart firm's performance model. Today, the Germans came out with an official release and a new set of photos of both the sedan and Estate versions of the 2012MY C63 AMG.
In the styling department, the C63 AMG models receive similar exterior and interior revisions as the standard C-Class models including new headlamps and a pointier front grille, plus a new dashboard design with an integrated screen on the top part of the center console.
The AMG treatment adds a restyled bodykit, a new aluminium bonnet with modified powerdomes, and bespoke 18-inch alloys wrapped in 235/40 R 18 and 255/35 R 18 tires at front and rear respectively, along with a three-dimensional TFT display in the middle of the redesigned speedometer and a flat-bottom three-spoke AMG performance steering wheel trimmed in nappa leather and featuring a metallic trim.
Under the skin, the 6.2-liter V8 remains unchanged for the 2012MY, producing 457HP and 600Nm / 442 lb-ft of torque in standard trim and 487HP with the optional AMG Performance package.

However, the C63 AMG obtains a new 7-speed sports transmission with the "Controlled Efficiency" mode as standard along with a new speed-sensitive sports steering with a direct ratio (13.5 : 1) and a newly developed power-steering pump that help reduce the combined consumption by about ten percent to 12.0 lt/100 km or 19.6mpg US (Estate: 12.3 l/100 km).
In terms of performance, the standard 457HP C63 AMG sedan completes the 0-100km/h [62 mph] sprint in 4.5 seconds (Estate: 4.6 s), while the 487HP model in 4.4 seconds (Estate: 4.5 s). Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.
According to Mercedes, over the past three and a half years it has sold more than 17,000 C63 AMGs worldwide, with 88 percent of buyers opting for the sedan and 12 percent for the Estate. The Performance Package has proven to be successful with more than 30 percent of all the C 63 AMG models delivered in 2010 specified with this option.
The latest iteration of the C63 AMG will have its world premiere at next month's Geneva Salon with sales set to start in July. Prices in Germany start at €71,340 for the sedan, and at €73,899 for the Estate, with the AMG Performance Package priced at €7166.20.

Mercedes C63 AMG BrabusAccording to Brabus, the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is shortened from 4.5 to 4.1 sec while 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached after 13.1 sec, down from 14.5 seconds. Kicherer Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMGEven the mighty Mercedes-Bezn SL63 AMG can’t escape from the horsepower-possessed German tuning firms. Thanks to a series of modifications that include a new sport exhaust system, Kicherer has managed to boost the SL63 AMG’s naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine output by 35 HP to a total of 560 HP while torque is also increased to 670Nm (494lb-ft). The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint now comes in 4.3 seconds or 0.4 sec faster than the standard SL63 AMG, while the roadster’s top speed is electronically limited to 320 km/h or 199 mph. -Continued

To match the SL63 AMG’s performance, Kicherer has developed a new bodykit with carbon fiber accessories than include a front apron, a rear diffuser that houses a new set of exhaust tailpipes and mirror caps. To complete the looks the German tuning firm offers a set of 20-inch RS-1 aluminium wheels.

Video: Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series

Posted by ai 7:36 PM, under ,,,, | No comments

With 670Hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series is the most powerful model to come out of the AMG factory yet. But the Black Series is not only more powerful it’s also 250kg or 550 pounds lighter than its 612Hp SL65 AMG stablemate thanks to the fixed carbon-fiber reinforced plastic rooftop, the lightweight alloy wheels and the numerous carbon fiber composites bodywork components. As a result, the Black Series needs just 3.9 sec to reach 100 km/h (62mph) while 200 km/h (124mph) is attained after 11.0 sec. The top speed is electronically limited at 320 km/h or 199mph. -Videos after the jump

    Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series 670Hp

Posted by ai 5:19 PM, under ,,,, | No comments

The evil-twin of the recently facelifted Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG has a name: Black Series. The most menacing SL to exit AMG’s factory comes with a breathtaking $320,000 price tag and a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine pumping out 670HP at 5,400 rpm and 738 lb.-ft of torque (SL65 AMG: 612Hp).

But that’s not all as the SL65 AMG Black Series features carbon fiber hood, fenders and trunk, along with a fixed carbon fiber roof with an integrated roll cage that replaces the retractable hard top. As a result, the Black Series weighs in at 4,122 pounds (1,869 kg) or 550 pounds (250kg) less than the stock SL65.

AMG also souped up the appearance of the Black Series with an aerodynamic wide bodykit that features seven air ducts - three in the bumper, two on the hood and two in the fenders- to cool off the massive twin-turbocharged V12 engine. According to preliminary figures, the Black Series can go from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.9 sec while top speed is limited to 199 mph or 320 km/h. -45 High Res Images after the jump
